CRIMINAL RECORDS: 2010

Crime Fiction Week, brought to you by the Crime Writers' Association
June 14th - 20th 2010

National Crime Fiction Week a great success

2010 was the first year when the Crime Writers’ Association coordinated a week of events to celebrate crime writing. CWA members held a wide range of events, ranging from book signings and meet-the-author sessions to murder-mystery events and meals (including Crime & Curry in Lancashire, and Cornish pasties in Cornwall).

The first year went so well that it has been decided to make this an annual event, with a minor name change to National Crime Writing Week to increase the emphasis on non-fiction as well as fiction.

This part of the web site records what happened in 2010.

Norfolk Libraries celebrated Crime Fiction Week with an invitation to discover life after Larsson with a downloadable guide to European crime writing: find out who else writes like your favourite historical crime writers. Requests were half their usual price during this week, so it was a great opportunity to discover some new favourite authors!

‘Lady Killers’ Week at Glenwood Library, Glenrothes, Fife had events on Monday 14th, Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th.

Competitions

A highlight of the week was the annoucement of the winner of the National Young Crime Writers’ Competition. A number of libraries also ran local competitions and these are described on the competitions page.
